How Cambridge paper codes work
Read syllabus codes, exam-series letters, document types, paper numbers and variants from a Cambridge filename.

Read a filename from left to right
Take 0495_s26_qp_11.pdf. Each part narrows the document until it identifies one exact file:
0495- The syllabus code: Cambridge IGCSE Sociology.
s26- The May/June series in 2026.
qp- The document is a question paper.
11- Paper or component 1, variant 1.
Exam-series letters
The IGCSEfy Cambridge archive uses four series markers found in its source filenames:
m— February/Marchs— May/Junew— October/Novembery— specimen material
The two digits after the letter give the year: m26 means February/March 2026 and w25 means October/November 2025.
Common document types
qp is a question paper and ms is its mark scheme. A gt file contains grade thresholds for the session. Some subjects also publish inserts, transcripts, confidential instructions or examiner reports; IGCSEfy places safely supported ancillary documents beside the paper that needs them.
Why the syllabus code matters
Similar titles do not make two syllabuses interchangeable. Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 and Combined Science 0653, for example, are different codes. A paper archive should match the exact code you study, even when another course name looks close.
